http://www.wishsf.com This intimate lounge is alternately a happening DJ hotspot and a relaxed hangout with DJs spinning downtempo funk, house, and soul. Bonus: There's rarely a cover. More >>
http://www.thewreckroomsf.com Graduation sucks, dude. The old campus party pad is off limits -- so now when you wanna down some brews, shoot hoops, and scope babes with your fave wingmen, you gotta hit the Wreck Room. With its plethora of games to either play (pool, shuffleboard, arcade basketball, and more) or watch (via one of the many flat-screen TVs), this new Nob Hill establishment is an upscale sports bar mixed with a gameroom mixed with a frat house. The beer and liquor selections skew fancy, but the chapeau of choice is a baseball cap. Heck, the bartender might even serve your drink with a "thanks, bro" and fist bump. More >>
http://www.yoshis.com The world-class jazz club, one of the few authentic clubs left in the Bay Area, is home to both a noted Japanese restaurant and a stage that hosts a dizzying variety of top-flight acts. More >>
http://www.yoshis.com This ain't the old Fillmore jazz scene - where once small, smoky joints like Bop City reigned among the mid-century locals-in-the-know. This Yoshi's venue is upscale to the max. The longtime Oakland jazz venue that brings national talent to the East Bay now brings more of the same to a central-city location. While the whole thing reeks a little of gentrification, at least the calendar is usually packed with top-flight players. Their food menu centers on Japanese items. More >>
http://www.zeitgeistsf.com San Francisco's worst-kept secret may be Zeitgeist's huge beer garden, where throngs converge to share crowded picnic tables, smoke in the sun, and drink pitcher after pitcher of cold suds. The bar also recently upgraded and expanded its beer selection, offering many more taps of delicious microbrew goodness, and even built new backyard bathrooms (no more plastic Porta-Potties!) to accommodate the bladders of the masses. The punky bartenders are still notoriously — and justifiably — unwilling to tolerate rude yuppie customers, however, so be nice, tip well, and remember to program your favorite Black Flag songs on the jukebox. With a bar named Zeke's, you should know well enough not to expect white tablecloths and a menu full of truffles and trifles. This low-key, sports-themed dive sits a mere two blocks from the ballpark and humbly serves ice-cold American brews and basic bar grub to Giants fans (during the baseball season) or anyone looking to catch a game on one of Zeke's many TVs (over 15 in all). If you're looking for a South Beach getaway that's more friendly than fancy, and don't mind getting some grease on your fingers, this could be your place. One bum note: no happy hour. More >>
