Place Pigalle

Place Pigalle

This dive gives those in Hayes Valley who'd rather not drop rent on a bar tab a place to go. Locals love the pool table and the foosball table, and after looking around at the well-worn couches, one may wonder, "Wait, am I in a frat house?"
The Final Final

The Final Final

Its walls covered by 49ers and Giants memorabilia, the Final Final is a solid place to kick back and watch sports in the Marina, with a crowd of regulars, sports enthusiasts, and whoever else shows up to enjoy the pool table, dartboard, and free popcorn.

With nightly DJs playing good ol' rock 'n' roll, Delirium's small, black-walled back room is one of the city's coolest places when the DJs are firing on all cylinders. And with a motto like "service for the sick," we can dig it.

    Blackthorn Tavern

415-564-6627 If your idea of the rainbow's end is tipping back 20 ounces of Guinness and pining for the Irish shores, the Blackthorn Tavern is a dream come true. • Durty Nelly

    Durty Nelly's

2328 Irving San Francisco, CA 94122

There's actually very little dirt in Durty Nelly's, a clean and comfy pub in the Outer Sunset. Whether you sidle up to the bar or slip into a booth by the fireplace, this wee Irish drinkery cultivates a homey attitude with all the rustic accoutrements you'd expect: brassy knick-knacks, a map of Eire, pictures of sweater-clad old folks, etc. The cottage-like exterior isn't misleading. Sure, Durty Nelly's is cute - but it's also small, so don't even think of traipsing that big bachelorette party in here. The pub grub menu, meanwhile, includes American staples like burgers and sandwiches as well as traditional items like Shepherd's Pie and an Irish breakfast with rashers, bangers, pudding, and more. • Silver Spur

    Silver Spur

1914 Irving San Francisco, CA 94122

The Silver Spur is a bright, occasionally boisterous, and often laid-back local watering hole that's as American as the cowboy boot on its sign. You wouldn't come here to order the complex European cocktail-du-jour that's trendy in SOMA nightclubs. This is a place to grab a Budweiser, catch the Giants game on TV, and forget about that timeclock waiting for you at work tomorrow. Read more about this San Francisco bar or club >>
