Theater and professional wrestling have a lot in common. They both have no shame when it comes to flamboyant costumes, they're both, well, fake, and, as the Aurora's The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity argues, they're both art forms that seek to tell the "perfect story." SF Weekly theater critics Lily Janiak and Benjamin Wachs saw the first show in the Aurora's 21st season, a 2010 Pulitzer Prize finalist directed by Jon Tracy and written by Kristoffer Diaz that offers all the carnal thrills of seeing a real match from ringside seats but also the more refined pleasures of high art: complex characters, resonant themes, poetic writing, and an action-packed story. Listen to our critics' thoughts in the podcast below, which was produced by Benjamin Wachs.

The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity continues through Sept. 30 at the Aurora Theatre Company, 2081 Addison St. (at Shattuck), Berkeley. Admission is $32-$50
