When it first came out, Apples to Apples was basically the most fun thing ever. And then three years ago, a similar game called Cards Against Humanity came out, and that was basically the most fun thing ever. Because both games operate on a similar premise, and both are ridiculously entertaining, it kind of makes you wonder why more people haven't created a third game that's like the other two.

Well, now someone has.

San Francisco resident Corey Schisler was hanging out with some friends in a cabin on a snowy mountain one night, trying to think of something fun to do, when his friend Mike told the group about the poetry contests his family used to have when he was growing up. Each family member would write a poem about a given topic and read the poem to the rest of the family.

Schisler and his friends decided to do the same thing, except with topics that may not have been so family friendly. This idea became Lyric Abuse.

Lyric Abuse works like this: one person starts as "The Laureate," who picks a Theme Card (examples of Theme Cards: Worst Date Ever, Why Mommy and Daddy Aren't Together Anymore, and Things I Learned in Jail).

Each player flips the Lyric Abuse coin to determine whether they will be making up a song or a poem based on the Theme Card. Everyone has a piece of paper, a pencil, and 120 seconds to write down their song or poem, which they will be performing to the rest of the group.

Much like Cards Against Humanity, the Laureate picks their favorite song or poem, and the composer of the winner holds on to the Theme Card. Whoever has the most Theme Cards at the end of the game is the winner.

Also, this goes without saying, but also much like Cards Against Humanity, Lyric Abuse could easily be turned into a drinking game.

So what do you think, will Lyric Abuse will become the next Cards Against Humanity? If you'd like to see this happen, help fund the game on Kickstarter and be one of the first people to play.
