Quick, who do you think would be more into having an orgy, a liberal or a conservative?

That sounds like the opening to a bad joke, but it's a serious question.

According to a recent poll conducted by, couples with conservative ideals are more likely to participate in "swinger parties" than liberal couples.

To conduct the poll, surveyed 2,800 of its users -- an equal number of liberal and conservative voters -- about their experiences with and emotions towards swinger parties and open relationships.

Although is a dating site for "liberated and sexually-adventurous couples and individuals," not all of its members are equally interested in sex parties.

In fact, 76.4 percent of the conservative voters polled either have attended or would attend swinger parties, in comparison to the 59.8 percent of liberal voters who have or would.

Of the conservative voters who were interested in group sex and swinging, 54.3 percent would be cool with experimenting with 2-4 additional partners at one time, while 81.1 percent of the polled liberal voters preferred two additional partners or just one.

So, it's not okay for two men to get married, but it's okay for a couple to have sex with a bunch of strangers?

The next question is why conservative voters are more interested in swinging and orgies than liberals are. Although Heednly didn't ask its survey participants for the motives behind their responses, they speculate that the discrepancy may come from the fact that people with liberal ideals are typically already pretty open-minded when it comes to sex, or that conservative voters may have suppressed sexual desires that they emerge in a more dramatic way.

Or, it might just be really fun to keep a secret.
