Ant-Man is causing quite the stir on Reddit this morning after the first official press image was released, but according to a press release distributed by Marvel yesterday, movie goers will have to wait until July 17, 2015 to see the film in theaters.

If you're unfamiliar with the Marvel story of Ant-Man, scientist Henry Pym (who will be played by Michael Douglas) creates a magic potion of sorts that allowed him to shrink his size, and first appears in a 1962 comic book. As the comic series progressed it changed into a suit and helmet that allowed him to do this; he passes this on to Scott Lang (played by Paul Rudd), who becomes the next ant-man; the film, going by the working title "Bigfoot" is being directed by Peyton Reed (Bring It On).

Over on our sister blog the Snitch, Joe Eskenazi checked out the filming location, and snapped a couple photos; we've been told by friends hanging around the set area that staff confirmed the large structure is for the rain effect. (Unfortunate this is during a drought year, but we digress.) Also, according to Project Casting, those extras working in the "rain" today will receive an extra $4 bucks an hour.

The filming will continue in S.F. for the next two weeks before the team moves on to their next location: Georgia. In the meantime, if we spot Rudd, we'll let you know.
