While there are a heck of a lot of wine tastings around San Francisco every year with their own bragging rights, only one can claim the title of Largest Tasting of California Wines in the World! And it's happening today. The Family Winemakers of California 18th Annual Tasting is a showcase for over 400 of the state's smaller, family-owned wineries. The vino extravaganza runs from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. tonight at the Fort Mason Center's Festival Pavilion (99 Marina Boulevard). Tickets run $55 at the door. For details and online ticket sales check www.fortmason.org or call 415-345-7575.

The San Francisco Street Food Festival was another success this year. Dozens of vendors with original, unheard-of creations, such as deep fried mac and cheese on a stick, black pea paste pancakes, and Korean quesadillas. Then there was the comfort foods we've grown accustomed to, like creme bruleé, shrimp rolls, and pound cake. Photographs by Mabel Jimenez.
