  • Mercury's take on Filipino street food drops on weekend nights.
Earlier this month, Mercury Lounge launched Happy Endings Kitchen, a late-night sidewalk window serving Filipino street food Fridays and Saturdays, minus the cart, and with a bit of extra attitude.

"Are you sure you [sic] late night food is safe from a cart with two wheels, a propane tank and a sheet pan turned into a grill?" the Lounge teased on its Facebook page. It's a not-so-subtle jab at local street-food vendors, maybe especially the ones slinging Pinoy fare like adobo, lumpia, and sinigang.

Happy Endings' menu includes sisig pork nachos, silogs (breakfast plates with fried eggs, garlic rice, and a choice of pork sausage), and the Mercury Dirty Dawg ― a weiner slathered in Sriracha and kimchi ― with nothing priced over $10. It will surely hit the spot after a night partying in the city's main clubzone. But restaurants and carts, can't we all just get along?

Happy Endings Kitchen at Mercury Lounge 1582 Folsom (at 12th St.), 551-1582; Fri.-Sat. 10 p.m.-2 a.m.
