Ever wondered what it'd be like to attend a soil science convention? We're not sure we'd make it past the dreary continental breakfast. Nonetheless, we're excited about Symphony of the Soil, a new multi-film project by Deborah Koons Garcia, maker of the excellent The Future of Food. This documentary features a large number of soil scientists chopping it up over our understanding of the resource to which they have dedicated their professional lives. Garcia will be screening highlights of her work-in-progress at this year's Hans Jenny Memorial Lecture. In case you were wondering, a panel discussion of preeminent Berkeley academics will follow the viewing. Hope you have a scone handy.
