Amanda Hesser Talks Food Writing at 826 Valencia Benefit

East Coast food scribe Amanda Hesser (food52, the New York Times, Cooking for Mr. Latte) is helping raise money for kid-centric writing center 826 Valencia via a special two-hour seminar called "The Art of Food Writing" at the Women's Building Nov. 7. If you've ever wondered how to "transform your love for food into a love of writing about food," this one's for you. Celia Sack of Omnivore Books will moderate the panel discussion, and chef Daniel Patterson will both chat and prepare a tasting plate of three dishes from Hesser's new book, The Essential New York Times Cookbook (W.W. Norton, $40). Tickets are $100 and benefit the youth writing programs for students at 826; a signed copy of Hesser's book will cost you an extra $40, either at the event or via pre-order. Note to Hesser groupies: She'll be at the Ultimate Potluck cocktail brunch earlier that day at the Ferry Building.
