Why it's likely to be special: Nombe's second annual Japanese-style sake-soaked New Year's bash is also the swan song for original chef Nick Balla, who's moving on. How do you say "auld lang syne" in Japanese?

Menu highlights: takoyaki (grilled octopus); toshikosi soba; ozouni (chicken mochi soup, a New Year's tradition); a "buffet of Nombe favorites"; and enough sake to make you regret it in the morning
