The Chocolatiers of San Francisco: Taste, Talk, and Tour

Where: Starts at 1198 Illinois (at Humboldt)

When: Sat., Jan. 22, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Cost: $50

The rundown: Saturday morning is your chance to lift the veil on three local chocolate masters -- touring their facilities, learning their unholy secrets, and feasting on their wares. For $50, with $10 of it going to La Cocina's aspiring food artisans, anyone can have their own Golden Ticket. Shawn Williams, cofounder of Au Coeur Des Chocolats, will tiptoe through your childhood, giving the 411 on molding a chocolate bar, making hot chocolate with cream, and crafting the perfect s'more (samples included, natch). Before the hoi polloi get a chance to visit William Werner's* much-anticipated Tell Tale Preserve Co. brick and mortar this spring, you can go behind-the scenes at his production facility, sampling the chocolate turrón and other decadent delights. And Kathy Wiley, who wowed SFoodie with Poco Dolce's olive oil sea salt chocolate, will finish the event with a tour of her facilities and a big reveal of her newest chocolate bar. How can you resist?

Tickets must be pre-purchased here.

*For the thrifty treat-seeker, check out Werner later on Saturday at a free jam-making and tasting event at Macy's.
