The Rib Whip is getting a roomie. BBQ food-truck owner Ryan Gessel tells SFoodie that, starting Monday, he'll be sharing his SOMA lot with a second food truck, Ryan Scott's 3-Sum Eats. The spot on Ritch Street just below Bryant is getting spiffed up, too. Gessel says he's bringing in three picnic tables to augment existing seating (i.e., a couple of tables pushed together), and yesterday he started advertising free wi-fi for office-cubers eager to check e-mail during lunch. The new shared food-truck space has a name, too: the Lunch Box at South Park.

"We kind of wanted to do that from the get-go," Gessel says, "make it a local spot, do multiple trucks." Scott's 3-Sum Eats will park permanently at the Lunch Box, though the two trucks will maintain a kind of weekday rotation, 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.:

Mon.: 3-Sum Eats

Tue.: The Rib Whip

Wed.: Double-Day Wednesday, featuring both trucks

Thu.: Both trucks, or neither (both are at Off the Grid UN Plaza bimonthly); Gessel says he'll try to line up a guest truck for those days

Fri.: The Rib Whip

The appearance by 3-Sum starts this Monday, Mar. 14. And the monthly Friday happy hours, with drinks, that Gessel has been trying to launch? His new plan is for a two-day tailgate party for the Giants home opener, April 8-9. We'll let you know if it comes together.
