San Francisco International Chocolate Salon

Where: Fort Mason Center Festival Pavilion, Buchanan at Marina

When: Sat., April 17, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Cost: $25 advance, $30 at the door

The rundown: At a recent fondue event, SFoodie spied a brazen toddler getting his business up in the chocolate fountain. Totally gross, but we kind of get where he was coming from. If your chocolate cravings run similarly haywire, this weekend's annual Chocolate Salon may be just the thing. It's a hedonistic day-long cocoa fest, with vendors from all over the world offering samples, special tastings, wine pairings, and more. Purveyors hail from all over the country, but local acts include Neo Cocoa and Socola, both masters of fine trufflery. Guest speakers trend TV talking head, but Lisa Lu, pastry chef at Jardinière and chocolate goddess Alice Medrich are both on the lineup. To get pumped pregame, check out Tamara Palmer's Salon slideshow from 2009.
