Food truck news: Seeing Sam's ChowderMobile more often? The Feast reports that its fleet is increasing to three trucks, allowing for the inclusion of special events, dinner hours, and attention to lunch hour requests.
Over in the East Bay, What The Fork reports 22-year-old Nick Bernard (formerly of S.F.'s Anchor & Hope) has soft-launched his food truck: Nick's Wheely Good Breakfast Truck. Bernard was trying to capture the elusive S.F. food truck permit, but the endless waiting game redirected his path across the Bay Bridge. Maybe he'll come back? Maybe?
An A's fan and a Giants fan may not agree on much, but there's a good chance they're both fans of the perennial sports bar favorite, chicken wings. SFoodie's Luis Chong reports that a new wings place is opening tomorrow just as baseball heads toward midseason. Wing Wings (422 Haight at Webster) will be slinging wings and things until 2 a.m. Plans are to start delivery services to bars in the Lower Haight. Score.
And yet another restaurant is slated for Valencia Street. Grub Street reports Mohave, a Southwestern-style restaurant from Woodhouse Fish Co.'s Dylan MacNiven, is moving into the former Bombay Ice Creamery and Bazar. He's planning a 100-seat restaurant and (possibly) incorporating outdoor space (including fireplaces) into the design. Look for an opening as early as the end of the year.
Over on 24th Street, Supervisor Scott Wiener shares with Noe Valley SF that the former Real Foods building will remain the same, for now at least. He's trying to persuade the owners to sell. Good luck.
A bowling alley update from Live SOMA: The Lucky Strike Lanes' plans for converting an empty space at Third and King streets has not gone without neighborhood opposition, but is now moving forward. Expect 12 lanes, an outdoor patio, and an early 2012 opening.
And a temporary shutter for Dosa on Valencia: Eater SF notes it will close for maintenance June 22-29. When it reopens, expect new furniture, floors, and bar serving cocktails under the newly granted liquor license.
