Bravo TV trailers and Top Chef tents have colonized Justin Herman Plaza this morning. Is Bravo flash-filming a segment for the next series? Is Traci Des Jardins throwing a semicelebratory Top Chef Masters gala? No -- it's the Top Chef Tour!

Since April, Bravo has been traveling around the country orchestrating quick-fire challenges between past contestants. Ashley Merriman showed up in Hartford, Conn., for instance; Marcel Vigneron made an appearance in Tustin, Calif. (Side note #1: Man, there are now a ton of Top Chef alumni SFoodie doesn't remember.) Today, San Francisco's own Ryan Scott is battling Season 8's Fabio Viviani, who has flown up from Los Angeles to take on quick-fire challenges at 10:30 a.m., noon, 1:30 p.m., and 3 p.m. Entrance is free but issued on a first-come, first-served basis, and there appear to be no more than 100 seats in the tent. When SFoodie passed the stage at 9:30 this morning, there was already a line.

Side note #2: Of course, if you want to catch a glimpse of Ryan Scott, you can just visit his street-food truck. But then you won't get to hear the judges tell him to pack up his knives ... and wait in the trailer for the next show to begin.
