Tuesday isn't a traditional day for partying it up, but with a couple of great sounding events tonight you might want to practice your excuse for calling in sick tomorrow.

Guest Bartender Night: Ivy Mix from NYC's Clover Club and Lani Kai

When: Beretta on Tues., Oct. 25, 5:30 p.m.-1 a.m.; Delarosa on Weds., Oct. 26, 5:30 p.m.-1 a.m.

Where: Beretta, 1199 Valencia (at 23rd St.), 695-1199; Delarosa, 2175 Chestnut (at Pierce), 673-7100

The rundown: The guest bartender series at Beretta continues with Ivy Mix from NYC's Clover Club and Lani Kai brining her spirit-driven cocktails for the night like the Lost Rackets (rye, lemon, Batavia arrack, Cointreau, Benedictine), Flor de Cereza (blanco tequila, bianco vermouth, maraschino, orange bitters), and Artisaint (old tom gin, lemon, Cynar, St. Germain). Expect some fast moves from this East Coaster--she's co-founder of Speed Rack, an all-female speed bartending competition that raises cash for breast cancer charities.

Bols Genever Bar Crawl with LA Mixoligist Marcos Tello and Tal Nadari

When: 5:30 p.m.-12 a.m.

The rundown: Genever, the original "Dutch Courage" and an interesting spirit that is somewhere between a light whiskey and gin, is the focus of this staggering seven bar crawl. Join brand manager and real Dutchman Tal Nadari, along with drinking partner and esteemed LA bartender Marcos Tello. Lucky for you, you can jump in and out of the crawl with interesting and tasty $5 glasses of punch waiting for you at each location.

Given the nature of drinking, the schedule is estimated:

5:30 p.m. Rickhouse, 246 Kearny (at Sutter)

6:30 p.m. Burritt Room, 417 Stockton (at Sutter)

7:15 p.m. Comstock Saloon, 155 Columbus (at Kearny)

8:00 p.m. Txoko, 504 Broadway (at Kearny)

9:00 p.m. 15 Romolo, 15 Romolo (at Broadway)

The San Francisco Street Food Festival was another success this year. Dozens of vendors with original, unheard-of creations, such as deep fried mac and cheese on a stick, black pea paste pancakes, and Korean quesadillas. Then there was the comfort foods we've grown accustomed to, like creme bruleé, shrimp rolls, and pound cake. Photographs by Mabel Jimenez.
