Consumers should avoid eating certain shucked and in-shell raw oysters from Drakes Bay Oyster Company, warned the California Department of Public Health on Saturday. The oysters may be contaminated with Vibrio parahaemolyticus, a bacteria that can cause vomiting, cramps, headache, chills, and other nastiness. To date, three illnesses linked to the product have been reported.

Drakes Bay has made a voluntary recall of shucked oysters labeled with lot numbers 363 through 421 (found on the top of each jar or tub). In-shell raw oysters are tagged with harvest dates ranging from July 17 through Aug. 8. CDPH advises consumers to throw affected oysters away immediately. Find more information, including product labels and a full list of affected products, on the CDPH website.

The family-run oyster farm is currently waiting for tests on its oysters, results of which should be available as soon as Weds., Aug. 15.

DEVO was originally on the bill to support Arcade Fire but a kayak accident last week had sidelined lead singer Mark Mothersbaugh and the duration of the west coast leg of the tour.
