24 Delicious Ways to Beat the Heat in S.F.

Man, it's hot right?! Now that we're closing in on Day Three of this heat wave, we've rounded up some recent SFoodie posts guaranteed to help you cool off. We've got one more addition: Walking over to Arlequin's patio in Hayes Valley where we're writing this, we passed and couldn't resist Smitten Ice Cream's crème fraiche and Ukiah pear ice cream flavor, served with a drizzle of caramel. It was tart, fresh, and totally hit the spot. Just so you know, they're open until 10 p.m. tonight.

The heat wave is the perfect excuse to check out at least one of the four off-the-beaten-path frozen desserts that regular contributor Tamara Palmer dug up a few weeks ago -- we like the sound of Vietnamese snow ice, though it involves a trip out to Fluffy Snow in the Outer Sunset (it's cooler out there anyway, right?).

Old-fashioned ice cream is always a great treat, even if flavors in this town are anything but. Head to one of our five favorite ice cream shops in town, experiment with exotic flavors at Bombay Ice Cream on Van Ness by the freeway, or relax and let Tin Pot Creamery deliver ice cream to your door.

If you're in a boozier mood, Lou Bustamante recently highlighted four of his favorite warm-weather cocktails from more than a year of writing his Drink of the Week column -- he's got us craving a perfect La Paloma from Mosto in the Mission or a Cherry Bounce from Comstock Saloon. And if you're not feeling quite so fancy, you could always kick back with a cheap beer at one of S.F.'s 8 best outdoor bars.
