If you've ever enjoyed one of the superlative sandwiches from Pal's Takeaway, you know it's located inside the cozy Tony's Market at 24th and Hampshire. Now the shop, which took top honors on SFoodie's Top 10 S.F. Sandwich list earlier this year for its Mrs. Binh's sausage sandwich, is looking to expand into a bigger space sometime next year, hopefully while remaining in the Mission. And it's asking fans to help support the move on Kickstarter.

The Kickstarter page thanks the sandwich shop's supporters over the years, and lays out what the $10,000 project goal will go toward:

This project will help us cover the costs of moving to a location with a full kitchen and to acquire some additional equipment including a small pos cash handling computer for the front counter. We also need to hire some special installers to help us set everything up in a safe and legal manner.

As for what you get in return for a donation? Twenty bucks gets you a free sandwich, fifty gets you two free sandwiches and a t-shirt, two hundred gets you 12 sandwiches delivered anytime, and a whopping thousand dollar donation gets you a free lunch at your house for four cooked by the Pal's team (plus two t-shirts).

At publish time, Pal's had raised nearly $3,000 of its goal.

The San Francisco Street Food Festival was another success this year. Dozens of vendors with original, unheard-of creations, such as deep fried mac and cheese on a stick, black pea paste pancakes, and Korean quesadillas. Then there was the comfort foods we've grown accustomed to, like creme bruleé, shrimp rolls, and pound cake. Photographs by Mabel Jimenez.
