Peninsula Dining Update: Off the Grid Migrates South, Dinosaurs Brings Banh Mi to Pacifica

Off the Grid is now on in Daly City, bringing the roving food truck market to the Serramonte Center for the summer each Tuesday night, 5-9 p.m. Expect a wide array of weekly-changing vendors, including The Chairman with steamed bao buns, Me So Hungry with burgers, and the Rip Whip with barbeque. Pacifica

Dinosaurs, the popular Castro District lunch spot, now is serving its Vietnamese banh mi in Pacifica. In addition to the classic pork belly and pâté sandwich, consider the meeting of two Vietnamese classics in the Shaking Beef banh mi, or try the crispy tofu with rice noodles and taro. The tidy menu also offers spring rolls, a pair of salads, and of course, Vietnamese iced coffee to wash it down. 50 Eureka Sq., Pacifica, 650-557-1421.

San Mateo

San Mateo has a new upscale trattoria, Sole Ristorante Italiano, courtesy of Mario di Paolo and Angelo Cucco, who hail from the same village in Sicily and come most recently from Burlingame's Sapore. The compact menu features five pastas, various antipasti, and secondi including pistachio-crusted salmon with prosecco sauce. Redwood City

If you're looking for Japanese curry in Redwood City, now you have Diner Japonica. Housed inside a former Mexican restaurant, the restaurant covers all facets of the Japanese comfort food spectrum, from the obligatory curry and udon to a hamburger steak with rice. Palo Alto
