Hipster Mission deli Wise Sons just opened a second brick-and-mortar outpost at the Contemporary Jewish Museum today, serving up a full menu of sandwiches, salads, sides, and matzo ball soup to museum-goers and downtown visitors. We went over to check it out about an hour ago -- things were a bit slow, but we were impressed by the team's efficiency on their first afternoon. There is a counter-service dining room inside the museum (you have to go through a metal detector to get inside, at least today, which is kind of a bummer), and outside is a takeout window and a few tables on the pavilion.

We were very happy with matzo ball soup, a turkey sandwich (we ordered the top seed turkey, for some reason, with avocado, pickled onions, and too much whole-grain mustard; we wished we'd gone for the plain turkey on rye instead), and a side of coleslaw -- and we'll be back for hot pastrami, corned beef, and brisket when we're in a meatier state of mind.

The menu says that breakfast is coming soon. We're looking forward to another source for egg sandwiches near the office -- and dare we hope for challah French toast?

The dining room and takeout counter are both open to 4 p.m. today if you want to get a fix.

Wise Sons Deli: 736 Mission, between Third and Fourth; 655-7887.

Dining room hours: Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat, Sun 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Thu 1-4 p.m.

Takeout window hours: Mon-Fri 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
