If you think that happy hours are strictly weekday affairs, Two Sisters Bar and Books in Hayes Valley would like to respectfully disagree. In addition to offering discounted drinks 4-6 p.m. every Tuesday through Friday, the bar also offers a weekend happy hour. Its homage to day drinking spans from 1 to 4 p.m. because, as co-owner Mikha Diaz explains, "It is happy hour in New York City" -- a placed once lived in and still very loved by both sisters. So grab a seat, maybe even a book, and cozy up to their bar for a much-needed drink.

During happy hour at this two-year-old-spot, you can enjoy $3 pints of draft beer from local breweries such as Anchor, Lost Coast, and Stone. Glasses of two house wines are $5. The sisters are currently pouring a Sauvignon Blanc blend and a (red) Grenache, both hailing from Spain.

If you require something a bit stronger, sip on their featured $5 gimlet crafted with a housemade lime cordial. While the happy hour cocktails will change from time to time, none will surpass $7.

And although the food is not discounted, don't leave without snacking on the housemade potato chips served with a "date killer garlic and sour cream dip" ($5). After all, chips and a discounted libation go together as well as two alcohol-reverent sisters.
