There sure is a lot of frozen yogurt in this world, and now that the second Easy Breezy is open in the Inner Sunset, there is even more. (The first one is on 24th Street in Noe Valley, but has fewer machines and therefore fewer varieties at any given moment). Froyo is arguably a trend that crested long ago, but unlike the equally cutesy cupcakes, it's got a little room to grow just yet.
Exhibit A is Easy Breezy's custard. Creamier than most other frozen yogurts, which tend towards the airy and slightly fake-tasting, it's rather a steal at $0.61/ounce and also manages to make vanilla sexy in an age of Thai chili lime and, uh, gerbil offal confit. It also has one other advantage over the haute cuisine ice creams like Mr. & Mrs. Miscellaneous or Humphry Slocombe, which is breadth of topping choice. Vanilla custard pairs well with everything, and Easy Breezy easily has the most, ranging from gummy worms to boba tea balls to sweet vinegar to plain old crumbled Oreos.
Whether or not this all makes Easy Breezy more kid-friendly (as I suspect it does) will be left to the determination of anyone holding the hand of a screaming toddler. But it's definitely worthwhile to vanilla-phile adults, too.
