Whole films and inventions have been funded by crowdfunding website Kickstarter. Now somebody's lunch side is not only covered financially, but the Internet has exploded all over this dude's craving for potato salad.

Zack "Danger" Brown started his $10 campaign July 3 and has raised more than $23,000 with 1,782 backers as of the time this post was published.

Brown tells cnet that he has never made the dish before but wanted to, so he turned to Kickstarter.

"I realized that I really like potato salad, but had never made it. Then I wanted to make potato salad," Brown says.

Backers can get anything from a mention in a video of Brown making the potato salad to receiving a potato salad-themed haiku to going to Ohio and watching him create personal potato history. Shirts and trucker hats that say "I Heart Potato Salad" are also in the works for supporters.

At this point, Brown plans on renting a party hall for "the whole Internet." How much potato salad is this guy going to end up making?

This outrageous support for a man's potato journey has inspired a British man to do the same, but with coleslaw.

Gary Howard's £10 goal was reached within the first day of campaigning with the help of four backers. We'll have to see if the Internet feels as strongly about coleslaw as they do potato salad.
