Get Your Plantain Burrito While You Can; Cuco's is Probably Being Evicted

Sad news today on the city's burrito scene. Hoodline brings the news that Cuco's, the purveyor of Haight street's beloved plantain and black bean burrito, has been served with a 30-day eviction notice.

This isn't the first time such a thing has happened to the family-owned restaurant -- the first instance of eviction papers was back in 2012, and have been in a state of suspense since -- but this time, the owners tell Hoodline, it seems for reals.

It's tempting to read this as yet another sign that the neighborhood/city/Bay Area is changing, and hell, it probably is -- this is the same landlord that demanded a minimum annual salary of $100,000 and credit score of at least 725 to live in his building at Haight and Fillmore. It's heartbreaking to see the blunt force of market inflation being applied to a small gem like Cuco's. But, so it goes. Get your burritos in while you still can, and let's all hope that the warm, friendly owners are able to work something out with the landlord or find another spot to peddle their deliciousness.
