Along with Dattch, Grindr, and your favorite LGBTQ bars in the city, there's now another way to organize a meetup with local gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and pansexuals. Pop Up Gay Bar is the baby of Guerrilla Queer Bar, "a queer flash mob" that would organize meetups in various "straight" bars in towns all over the country. They were particularly active in S.F. from 2000 to 2003.

Although the name says it's a pop-up bar, the bar part of it is not necessary to the meetings.

The way the site works is you give them your location and email and if someone creates a meetup in your area, you're automatically e-vited.

"The system is basically a location aware email list," the about page states.

As a revival of GQB, Pop Up Gay Bar hosted a free boat trip around the Bay this past Saturday. Site users will be allowed to create their own events starting this week.

So if you can't wait until the next Pride to take over the city with the rest of the LGBTQ community, think about signing up and even organizing a Pop Up Gay Bar.
