This clubby, comfortable, off-the-beaten-track hideaway (its entrance is both dark and nondescript) serves up good, basic American cuisine until the wee hours. Dungeness crab cakes, oysters on the half shell, chicken marsala, filet mignon with béarnaise and portobello mushrooms, and a marvelous pepper steak with cream and brandy are among the menu items. Full bar; no checks, credit cards, or reservations accepted.

There are a couple of good date spots that I like. There is a really cool late-night food spot, also in the Marina area, called Brazen Head. It’s open late. It’s very quaint inside.
