Loud rock music, beautiful waitresses, an invariably crowded and buzzing room -- and yet foodies will brave all of this trendiness to feast on Craig Stoll's Italian cuisine, which manages to be both innovative and classic at the same time. Reservations are essential (people start lining up outside the door every night before the place opens) to dine on exquisite antipasti, pasta, and secondi (sautéed fresh fish, simply roasted meats) from the daily-changing menu. Excellent wine list, heavy on Italian vintages. One of San Francisco's best restaurants.
