Fish

350 Harbor (at Bridgeway)
Sausalito, CA 94965
331-FISH (3474)
Website
This unusual place, one of the few recommendable eateries in Sausalito, offers somewhat pricy but generally huge portions of well-cooked organic fish specialties, with the lure of a great seaside location (a little outside the touristy part of town). You line up, cash in hand, and order at a counter; you’re handed your drinks and a numbered placard that will tell the runners where to bring your oyster po’boy (made with local Marin Miyagi oysters), vast crab or shrimp Louie salads, steamed mussels and clams, or linguine with clams. Most seating is outside, at picnic tables. Daily specials include whole roasted fish (served with roasted potatoes and sautéed greens). The fish for the fish and chips are coated in a batter made with Anchor Steam. Adventurous specials might include hamachi crudo. Non-fish-eaters can choose between a good burger or a fancy organic PB&J sandwich. Simple desserts include carrot cake, house-baked cookies, and espresso poured over vanilla ice cream. Great for a long lazy lunch or an early dinner. - Meredith Brody
