JoAnn's Cafe

1131 El Camino Real (at Arroyo)
South San Francisco, CA 94080
650-872-2810
Hearty California-style breakfasts and lunches will do you right at this old-school coffee shop. Dark, rich buckwheat pancakes are a must. Beyond that, offerings range from orange bread French toast to spicy migas (eggs scrambled with onions, bell peppers, jalapeños, and tortilla strips) to the funky-yet-tasty Don Pasqual, which combines poached eggs, feta, salsa, and sautéed banana. Huge, creative burgers (try the blue cheese/bacon version), salads, and pastas make for an excellent lunch, which can be supplemented by gargantuan milkshakes.
