Unless you're dying to catch a show at the Independent, this is the place on Divisadero to go. Although in its nascent stages, it still manages to keep a full house with its club nights. Everything in here is created by local artists, from the design of the space right down to the menus. Live house, hip hop, funk, and world music, spoken word, installations, fund-raisers, and experimental projects all seem to click here with little to no pretension -- something so common at the city’s many artist collectives/bar.
