The Fillmore

1805 Geary (at Fillmore)
San Francisco, CA 94115
415-346-6000
Website
It's legendary and one of the best venues anywhere: great sightlines, killer sound system, and — most importantly — a continuous parade of top musical talent gracing the stage. Whether it's country legends, indie iconoclasts, crossover punks, or rhyme-slinging hip-hop crews, this venerable S.F. institution has got it. If you're bored between acts, scope the photo gallery that lines every hallway wall with pictures of the icons who've shared the same space in which you're currently standing.

The Inside Word on The Fillmore

  • Barry Zito
The Fillmore is just second-to-none. It’s the most beautiful place ever. They have these big chandeliers and an upstairs area where you can sit and get out of the crowd for a little bit.

The Fillmore reminds me of Canlis. A classic venue that is still hosting the best shows.

So this is one of those amazing landmark venues that is still around, which in itself would make this place amazing, I mean, hellow people like Jim Morrison were here at one point, what's not to love (or worship)? I love the ambiance (sorry for the usage of a buzzword), the lighting reminds me of a scene in Robert Downey Jr's movie Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang. This is one of those standing room only kind of places, but who cares. My feet will take the beating for someone awsome. The only downside would be for out of towners who don't know how to use BART plus buses to get around downtown-learn it before you go, unless you like getting lost in SF, which isn't really too bad a thing. Other than that, no problems.
