January is, hands down, the slowest month of the year for life music. A ton of venues are either closed entirely or go dark for large chunks of the week, ostensibly because so few bands and artists tour during January.

But don’t despair! There are a few rather dope shows going on this week — did we mention R. Kelly is coming to Oracle Arena? — and we’ve gathered them here (in both a list and a playlist) for your perusal.
