January is the slowest month of the year for concerts, as many artists and bands take a break from touring and music venues, in turn, close their doors, as well. The good news is that it’s the middle of the month, so the shows are starting to pick up and pickings aren’t as slim as they were a few weeks ago.

In the next seven days, some rather exciting acts are coming to the Bay — like Mogwai, Metro Boomin, Lizzo, and AFI — and we’ve rounded up a slew of options for you to check out if you’re hankering for a dose of live music.

We’ve also compiled a playlist with songs from each of the artists or bands in the list, so give that a listen because you might end up stumbling in love with an act you’ve never heard of.
