A few weeks ago while driving, I found myself stopped at a red light behind an AC Transit bus emblazoned with a huge ad for Green Day’s 12th studio album Revolution Radio. “That’s odd,” I thought to myself at the time, because the album came out in early October and four months seems like a helluva long time to keep paying for a bus ad.

Fast-forward to today and it’s all starting to make sense because Green Day will hit the Oakland Coliseum on August 5 as part of its Revolution Radio tour, which has been expanded until the end of September 2017. Previously, the punk rockers were only going to tour from March to April on the other half of the country, but now they’ve added more shows in August and September on the West Coast.

If you haven’t yet had a chance to check out Revolution Radio, might we suggest listening to “Youngblood” or “Bouncing Off The Wall?” Though the 12-track album — which ranked on a number of year-end lists and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 — is chock-full of upbeat, chord-heavy ditties, these two songs shine especially bright and we wouldn’t want you to miss out on them.

Tickets go on sale this Friday, Jan. 13!
