To celebrate local San Francisco label Popgang Records‘ four-year anniversary, we’ve got two premieres for you.

The first is “Hours With You,” a shimmery, tropical dance track by Oakland producer/singer Derek Buckwalter, known as RZN8R. Anchored in keys, and filled with syncopated synths, the lush tune shimmies and somersaults through it’s three-and-a-half minute runtime, leaving the listener feeling invigorated and inspired.

As its title hints, it’s a love song, and Buckwalter says he penned the song while in a serious relationship.

“I wanted to capture the blissful feeling of spending time with her,” he says. “We’re no longer together, but it makes me appreciate how yearning for connection and intimacy is a powerful force in my creative process.”

The song’s remix, created by MANICS — an indie-dance act signed to Popgang comprised of Jordan Deherrera and Chris Sanders — turns things up a notch. Deep, bubbling bass enters the picture, transforming the track into a buzzy deep house number that is sure to get you dancing.

In fact, if you want to sway your hips to some live MANICS tunes, then check out their opening set for Goldroom’s show at Mezzanine on Friday, April 21.

See you there!
