Why You Really Shouldn’t Miss Phono Del Sol This June

In addition to loads of eclectic food options, this year's festival will include performances by acts like Thee Oh Sees, Jay Som, DUCKWRTH, Bells Atlas, and more!

OMG. You need to see the lineup for this year’s Phone Del Sol Music & Food Festival.

The annual Mission District event takes place on Saturday, June 17, in Portrero Del Sol Park, and includes myriad food and drink options. But like I just said, it’s the musical acts that you should really come to see.

Headlining this year’s festival is none other than the San Francisco garage-rockers Thee Oh Sees (whom we wrote a joke April Fools post about last year). A slew of eclectic and local artists will also be there, like San Francisco indie-rock band Tino Drima and Bancamp royalty Jay Som. Rapper DUCKWRTH will perform, along with East Bay R&B crooner Rayana Jay, crystalline-voiced Madeline Kenney, Oakland funk-fusion band Bells Atlas, and the post-punkers Never Young.

There will be some non-local acts there, too, like the Atlanta-based feminist punk-rockers The Coathangers and singer-songwriter Sean Hayes.

Like the music, the food options are insanely varied, with offerings by Gaga’s Rollin Diner, Scotch Bonnet, Waffle Roost, Kabob Trolley, Sajj Street Eats, Bobcha, Curry Up Now, Mozzeria, Linda’s Catering, and Humphry Slocombe.

Tickets for the event, which is organized by Bay Bridged and Tiny Telephone, are on sale now, with prices as low as $29. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department.
