With four studio albums under its belt, this Sacramento hip-hop duo — consisting of the rapper Gift of Gab who, as his name suggests, has the ability to spit quickly and athletically, and DJ and producer Chief Xcel — has been churning out quirky, eccentric, and generally positive-leaning rap for more than a decade. Though they’re more underground than mainstream, the pair saw a resurgence in popularity in October 2014, when Daniel Radcliffe (you know, the actor who played Harry Potter) recited the full lyrics to the group’s song “Alphabet Aerobics” on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. In their most recent album, 2015’s Imani, Vol. 1, the old-timers proved they’ve still got it, with Gab trading rapid fire bars and Xcel crafting his signature classic West Coast hip-hop beats.

Blackalicious with Lyrics Born and Lateef, at 8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 28, at the Fillmore. $25; thefillmore.com.
