Quit Bitching: Friday Club Picks

Let the bellyaching cease! Contrary to popular opinion, this weekend’s weather will be truly awesome. The overcast skies and crisp weather will be pregnant with electricity, perfect for keeping you awake, and primed to wreak havoc.

Tonight: Electronic bleeps and bloops aren’t the only sounds caressing the dance floors. Metronome Dance Center’s “Friday Night Swing” proves why manic swing dancing should be appreciated as more than just a dot-com era, retro dance craze. (Dance lessons [for you squares] and dance party start at 9 p.m., $8-$10) But if le jazz hot isn’t your non-narcotic bag, Madrone Lounge’s DJ-heavy one-off, “Spirit of ’74” — featuring Dynamic B Boy’s, Centipede’s, E Da Boss’s, and Monophono’s disco, 7”, breaks, and rare 45’s sounds — will help you party 21-Century style. (9pm, $5).

Check back tomorrow for new picks. —Brock Keeling
