Ratatouille @ Davies Symphony Hall

Well, it looks like the orchestra is going to the rats. One specific rat, that is. This weekend, the San Francisco Symphony will project the 2007 animated Pixar film Ratatouille while the orchestra plays the score live. If you haven't seen the film, it stars Patton Oswalt as the voice of Remy the rat, who despite his furry heritage, dreams of being a chef. Like the food that Remy dreams of cooking, the music in the film is French-leaning, and the score and soundtrack were each nominated for an Academy Award. Sunday's screening features a pre-concert chat with director Brad Bird and composer Michael Giacchino, who will dish details on the scoring process behind the little French rat. The movie-score geek inside me is already excited. Bon appetit!
