Candace Roberts, the woman behind San Francisco's anti-gentrification anthem, “Not My City Anymore,” has struck gold again with “Take Back Your Beaver.”
[jump] Roberts shifts her focus from civic to pubic pride with this hairy tune, released last week with the help of a Kickstarter campaign. Lyrically, the song draws from personal experience; when Roberts was in her teens, her sister teased her with a rap song about personal grooming: “My sister's got a big brown beaver. She needs to learn to keep it cleaner.” In her early twenties she was also rejected on a date due to her all-natural pubic hair.
This song is about her reclaiming her beaver, to do with as she pleases.
