For $25 you can buy a cleverly-phrased T-shirt that not only supports your favorite local band, Third Eye Blind, but also presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. It's a simple shirt — all black with grey sans-serif font — but the words on it — “Raise Your Hand If You Believe In Science” — pack a punch.
[jump] Third Eye Blind frontman Stephan Jenkins came up with the phrase last week while performing for an RNC charity event in Cleveland, Ohio. He asked the crowd to “Raise your hand if you believe in science” in an attempt to show the band's antipathy to Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump.
Though the band received “boo's” from the audience, the phrase managed to travel far, ultimately grabbing the attention of Clinton who echoed the phrase during her official acceptance speech for the Democratic party last Thursday, July 28.
The San Francisco band was quick to capitalize on the goldmine they'd created by printing up shirts — in both men's and women's sizes — with the phrase emblazoned across the front. Today, Third Eye Blind announced through its Facebook page that all proceeds for the $25 shirts would be donated to Clinton's campaign.
So if you're in the mood to support a candidate and a local band, you can't do better than this.
