The Affordable Care Act may be in danger because of the impending Trump presidency, but supporters of the President Obama’s health care legislation have one new tactic to save it. They’re leaving voicemails en masse on Paul Ryan’s phone line.
Republican Speaker of the House Paul Ryan is conducting a phone poll to gauge opinion on the ACA, and both supporters and opponents of the legislation have taken to social media urging people to call in. Callers have reported dead air and dropped calls, but SF Weekly found the phone numbers provided to be working as of press time.
The outgoing message also invites you to “express your opinion on Second Amendment rights.”
When pressing 2 to leave a message on the health care law, you’ll hear that “many individuals have serious concerns about the Affordable Care Act.” You’ll also hear glowing acknowledgements of Ryan’s House Resolution 3762, the “Restoring Americans’ Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act” that “dismantles the President’s health care law.” Obama vetoed the bill in January.
