Alt-Right Supergroup Headlines Berkeley Free Speech Week

Bannon! Coulter! Milo! And even a pro-Trump Pussycat Doll.

The Berkeley Free Speech lineup — possibly Bay Area’s least-favorite lineup — promises to bring the likes of Steve Bannon, Ann Coulter and Milo Yiannopoulos in a matter of days.

And friends — lots of conservative, anti-P.C. culture, Breitbart enthusiasts joined by the performance of former-Pussycat Doll-turned-Trump-supporter Kaya Jones. The other singer, Joy Villa, has a song called “Make America Great Again.”

The week goes from Sunday, Sept. 24 to Wed. Sept. 27, with daily themes titled Feminism Awareness Day, Zuck 2020, Islamic Peace and Tolerance Day, and Mario Savio is Dead. (Savio helped lead Berkeley’s Free Speech Movement in the 1960s.)

Berkeley has MILO, Inc. and Berkeley Patriot to thank for festivities that are definitely, absolutely, 100% sure to happen despite protestors running Yiannopoulos and Coulter out of campus on separate occasions earlier this year. After leaving Breitbart for seemingly endorsing pedophilia, anonymous investors gave Yiannopolous $12 million to launch a media empire, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The announcement of the lineup introduced MILO, Inc. as being “dedicated to defending free speech, destroying political correctness, and upholding the values of Western Civilization by harnessing MILO’s unique blend of laughter and war.”

It also stated Yiannopoulos’s “hideously honest mouth and truly spectacular hair continue to attract millions of fans across the globe.”

Many are familiar with Bannon, Coulter and Yiannopoulos, but here’s a refresher on some other names in the lineup:

Monica Crowley, the nominee to direct communications for the National Security Council during the presidential transition until Politico Magazine found she plagiarized several parts of her Ph.D. dissertation.

James Damore, the fired Google employee who internally circulated a 10-page anti-diversity memo in August, which you can read in its entirety on Gizmodo.

Mike Cernovich, alt-right social media personality and conspiracy theorist.

Pamela Geller, who launched the American Freedom Defense Initiative with Richard Spencer and is known as an anti-Muslim activist.

Given the numerous links to Breitbart, Free Speech Week could be more aptly named — in Bannon’s own words — “platform for the alt-right.”
