Bayview Shooting Marks Second Homicide in 24 Hours

Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 23-year-old man.

The fatal shooting of a 23-year-old man on Tuesday night marked the second homicide in San Francisco within 24 hours, according to police.

San Francisco resident Matthew Higginbotham, was shot at 10:51 p.m. on Kirkwood Avenue, near Earl Street in Bayview-Hunters Point, authorities said. A man in his 30s is suspected in the handgun shooting but police have not released a description.

Additional details from police were not immediately available.

Earlier on Tuesday, a double shooting on 16th and Mission streets killed Richmond resident Hubert Coleman Jr., 34. Higginbotham’s death marks the 25th homicide in San Francisco so far this year.
