The latest round in the west coast San Francisco-Seattle size wars goes to the home team. Beloved local sex toy perv-eyor and multiple-time SF Weekly ‘Best Of San Francisco’ award winner Good Vibrations has bought up the Seattle-based feminist sex toy retailer Babeland. Babeland announced the sale Monday on its company blog, though financial terms were not disclosed.

If you don’t know Babeland (originally called Toys In Babeland), they’re pretty similar to Good Vibes and have a Seattle location plus three shops in New York City. Their stores have some pretty outstanding window displays, though these may not necessarily be safe-for-work viewing.

Good Vibes’ resident sexologist Dr. Carol Queen insists that the customer experience will not change in any way for either Good Vibes or Babeland shoppers.

“There is no intent on our part to change Babeland’s branding. They already have a strong identity. Nothing there is broken,” Dr. Queen told DNAInfo. “The way Babeland functions in the world is not going to look super different to customers. We value Babeland and are glad to have them in our family.”

Babeland has roughly 60 employees according to the Seattle Times, but their jobs are all safe. In other words, no one’s ‘getting laid’ off because of the acquisition.
