Hammer Attack Sends Bike Theft Victim to Hospital

Police arrested a suspect in connection with the attack on Geary Boulevard.

Police arrested a man early Tuesday morning after he allegedly assaulted a man with a hammer and stole his bicycle.

San Francisco police report that at 12:05 a.m. Tuesday, a 46-year-old man was walking with his bicycle when another man walked up from behind him. The 51-year-old suspect hit the victim with a hammer and fled on the man’s bike on Geary Boulevard and Boswell Street — across from The Fillmore.

Police found the suspect, arrested him and sent the victim to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
