Police are investigating a possible murder after a human remains were found in a warehouse in Hayward over the weekend. On Sunday, workers alerted authorities to the discovery of body parts, bringing both San Francisco Police investigators and canine teams from the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Unit to the scene. The dogs alerted them to several body parts, which were carried out in bags by the Medical Examiner’s staff.

The grisly discovery may be an unwelcome breakthrough in the case of San Francisco Uber driver and father of two Piseth Chhay, who went missing on May 14. According to police, Chhay was not working on the Sunday that he disappeared and had plans to visit his friend Bob Tang. He never returned home.

San Francisco-based Tang is a person of interest in the case. According to police, Tang left his residence in S.F. on the night of May 22,  when contacted by an alarm company. His last known location was in Antioch to deal with the alarm activation. After police his car was discovered at San Francisco International Airport on May 24, it was concluded that he’s most likely fled to Cambodia.

The warehouse where the body was found is connected (though police did not state how) to Tang.

Based on the condition of the body, authorities will have to use DNA evidence to determine its identity.
