A shooting in the Mission early Tuesday morning left one person dead and another man fighting critical injuries in the hospital, police said.

San Francisco police responded to 16th and Mission streets around 3 a.m. Tuesday and found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were transported to the hospital, where a 34-year-old victim died, according to police spokesperson Officer Robert Reuca.

The Medical Examiner’s office identified the 34-year-old man who died as Richmond resident Hubert Coleman Jr., Bay City News reports. A 46-year-old man, the second victim, is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police are investigating the death and have no further details at the time.

This is the sixth homicide in the Mission this year, excluding the fatal police shooting of 19-year-old Jesus Delgado-Duarte at 21st and Capp in March. San Francisco has seen 24 homicides in 2018 so far, the Examiner has counted.

A triple shooting on June 30 killed 29-year-old Marcos Martin Interian at 17th and Mission streets. Near Harrison and 23rd streets, Carlos Chan-Cocom was shot and killed outside his apartment about on June 22.

Lest not forget the dismemberment of 61-year-old Margaret Mamer allegedly by roommate Lisa Gonzales also happened in the Mission, near 14th and Mission streets.
